Wednesday, May 6- Visiting Seinajoki Nursing Facilites

The sun is finally breaking through the clouds and all around are signs of spring. The flowers are starting to bloom and the weather gets up 60 degrees. This morning I was given a tour of the Seinajoki Nursing Home and Day Care Center. The facility has a special care unit for those indivdiuals with Moderate Alzheimer's Disease which has approx. 30 beds, and a unit for Skilled Nursing Care of about the same size. Located on the far side of the building is the Community Day Center, which services 30 individuals from the community throughout the week. Individuals arrive in time for morning coffee, have activites, lunch and afternoon events. I had the ability to take a few photos of a Mothers Day art activity where the indivdiuals were making centerpieces to bring home to their family and friends. As you can see in the photos the inside of the facility respresents and is modeled after normal "home life ", including the kitchen and furniture inside.
